  Since its founding in 1745, the First Baptist Church in the City of New York has held to the Biblical truths of evangelicalism which are centered in the belief that the Bible is inspired of God and our sole basis of final authority. Our message has been salvation by grace through faith in the finished work of Christ. We hold that Christ was uniquely born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, made atonement for sinners on the cross, bodily arose from the dead and ascended into heaven. We look forward to the imminent pre-tribulational rapture of the church and the pre-millennial return of Christ. As an evangelical church we have held a literal dispensational approach to interpreting the Bible and to moderate Calvinism. We believe the local church is God’s plan for this age and is to be independent from any denominational control. Membership is for those who have personally received Christ as Savior and willing to be baptized by immersion as a believer. The Lord’s Table is an memorial ordinance to remind us of what Christ accomplished for us on the cross and that he is coming back soon. We are glad to share our Articles of Faith to those who are interested.
