Dr. Matthew C. Hoskinson - Pastor - firstname.lastname@example.org
Matthew Hoskinson was born and reared in the Detroit area and was first drawn to trust Christ as an eight-year-old. In his teenage years the Lord began kindling a desire for pastoral ministry in his heart, a desire that ultimately led to seminary studies in South Carolina and a Ph.D. in Theology. There he met his wife, Kimberly, a native of Ottawa, Illinois. The two were married in 2000 and have since been blessed with four daughters and a son.
While finishing his dissertation, Matthew was called to serve as Pastor of Youth and Young Adult Discipleship at Heritage Bible Church in Greer, SC, where he and his wife had been members. In 2007 the elders asked him to serve as Pastor of Ministry Vision, a role that included vision-casting and administrative responsibilities. After a bout with cancer Matthew heard about the opportunity at First Baptist through a pastor friend in Washington, DC. He and his wife rejoiced as God opened doors for them to serve this congregation. They eagerly anticipate Christ's exalting Himself in years to come through First Baptist. Matthew was installed as the nineteenth Pastor of the church at morning worship on September 26, 2010.
Matthew is author of Assurance of Salvation: Implications of a New Testament Theology of Hope, an adaptation of his dissertation. He has also written articles for the 9Marks eJournal and SharperIron, and blogs at www.debtortograce.com.
